Yeah, in the actual golden age he wasn't, but post-Crisis on Infinite Earths I think that it was retconned to be that he found one of the Guardians' Lanterns, or something along those lines.

Alan Scott is Earth's first Lantern, though he wasn't part of the corp. , at least initially. Well Alan Scott on earth-2 is a regular green lantern, wasn't the golden age Alan Scott not affiliated at all with the lantern corps as his powers are magic based as he states this in secret origins rebirth

The other Young Avenger is Hulkling, which is such a lame name. There's Karma and Mystique (bi) too. I don't know much about DC characters, but I think the Green Lantern I know is not the same Green Lantern in this. There are several, right?

Sure that escapist sensational aspect is part of it but good science fiction and fantasy is about telling human stories and looking at the human experience through a different lens. Perhaps the most significant aspect of that experience is how we interact with each other, romantically and otherwise. I will always be more compelled by a villain that is avenging a loved one or seeking vengeance for a wrong done to them (real or imagined) than one who just craves power. In the same way I'll always feel more for a hero that must make the tough choices between interpersonal fulfillment and their duty/responsibility. I agree with the above statement wholeheartedly. Fights are fun to read(when they're done well), and are an absolutely integral part of superhero comics, but for me the real draws are the characters and immersing myself in a fictional universe.

I see, thank you guys. (I was typing 'thank you gays' but reconsidered it as a cheap joke (here is it anyway))
