I was the same way, I started with the Spider-Man JMS comics when I started reading again, and after a handful of issues I was like, WTF is going on. And decided to "start at the beginning", which is when I found out there was no practical way to do so. (I read a little ways off the chronological orders, but they drove me apeshit)

I just decided I wanted to read some comics, decided Marvel would be a good place to start as I knew a lot of their properties fairly well already through movies and TV, and then found that the unlimited digital subscription was fairly cheap, so figured what the hell. I think the first thing I read was Civil War, and I got irritated by how much of the dialogue referenced things I had no clue about, so I cancelled the subscription, then I found here, so I started paying again.

My parents used to buy me the Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet comics when I was little, and the Beano (does that really count?), but then stopped when I was 10 or 11ish because I was "too old to be reading comics". Didn't start again until a few weeks before I signed up for this here forum.

I loved the transformers cartoon, I was perminantly addicted to it. My parents got me the subscription from issue 4 of the marvel uk reprints (weekly version of the us monthly comic). Unfortunately the newsagent could only get them every other week so I have 4,6,8,10,12....
Finally managed to get it weekly from 20 all the way to 330 whatever it was when it was finally cancelled.
I blame it for the fact that I always see spiderman as black not red (he was in one of the first issues in the black symbyote costume).
