I'd love to read some of the fan-letters he's so often referring to. Either my scans left them out or such thing as a letter-section was introduced several years later.

I'm beginning to wonder in what scale some of the proclamations in the early issues (let's say the first hundred within The Order) are blown up. E.g. "after reading this comic you will understand why fans everywhere are calling this the MARVEL AGE OF COMICS!" or "it is common knowledge that Spider-Man is the most succesful new super-hero". Or perhaps it's all true? I have no idea. I think back in the days, without internet and stuff, they could tell people anything and getting away with that - which makes it suspicious somehow...
