By your (correct, but nitpicky) rationale wouldn't this mean "only a mentally handicapped person could believe that they themselves actually possessed super powers" and not "only a mentally handicapped person would believe that those actors actually had super powers"?

(yes, it would)

Oh touché!

All the interpretations work, although I think believing you have super powers is a definition of a mental disease.

I don't think anyone thinks the actors in movies actually have powers. Unless they are mentally handicapped.

Anytime I read anything about someone who plays/played a bad guy in a soap, they always mention getting abuse on the street about it. But I guess the perpetrators do watch soaps.

Actually, I meant only the handicapped would believe that actors would have super powers

But I think all interpretations work.

Haha!

The funny thing is what you posted isn't why you meant.

You meant only mentally handicapped people would think they have superpowers, but what you actually wrote means that mentally handicapped actors have superpowers.

Made me smile :)

Yeah, I think most people, even kids know that the actors don't possess superpowers the heroes have. But I think some of the kids will expect that the actors have at least some of the good characters the superheroes have, like always ready to help people in need.
