As another thread seems to have veered off into discussing this, I figured it needed its own. Movies that are so utterly horrible that they become incredibly entertaining in their badness.

I will begin with Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, which I brought up in the other thread. Jesus and a wrestler fight vampires to save lesbians in a comedy musical. Just fantastic.

I also present Leprechaun In The Hood. The original Leprechaun films are pretty terrible by themselves (the Leprechaun's preferred method of transport is tricycle which he rides at ludicrous speeds, and he kills one guy by bouncing up and down on him on a pogo-stick), but here they blew them all away by setting it in an inner-city and giving Ice-T a starring roll.

Ghost Rider:Spirit of Vengeance was awful. Its like they tried to turn it into a cartoonish tale, when in reality it could've been the perfect candidate for being as gritty as Nolan's Bat films.

Hobo with a Shotgun. I dunno. I already typed something similar about Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, but didn't send the comment in the end. If a film is designed on purpose on being bad and succeeds (in his own terms), I wouldn't call it bad anymore.

Planet Terror, Black Dynamite, Gutter Balls and films alike. Filmmakers behind it put more effort in these than you see on the screen.

Why I didn't send this comment the first time, is because I've watched a trailer of JCVH and that film really is low-budget, so it qualifies for being a bad movie although the story clearly wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It's hard to distinguish. Another exapmle of a hard case would be the productions of The Asylum. When you see interviews with the guys owning this company it's very clear that they are aware of the shit they are producing. But when you watch the films, you can't hold your laugh of how bad these actually are.

But in the end, I think a bad film made on purpose can't compete with a film that was meant to be taken seriously and failed in every way.

I agree with that. It means less if they were trying to be bad.

I concur, my girlfriend says movies like Napoleon Dynamite are stupid. They were going for that, so she is simply sayibg they achieved their goal.

To clarify, I'm not talking movies that were going for bad. Bride of Chucky and Army of Darkness were terrible, but they were obviously going for being terribad. But to comment on my own suggestions, JCVH is a comedy if you read the synopsis, but it also claims to be a commentary on sexual politics. You can see the bits they thought would be funny, and they aren't, but the film is still hilarious. Leprechaun In The Hood was obviously trying to be self aware and non-serious, but just fails at it awfully.

Army of Darkness is one of my favorite films of all time. You've just made yourself an archenemy on this board, Xythe.

Oh it's brilliant, what I meant is that it shouldn't be considered here because it was intentionally goofy and cheesy and pulled it off.
