I just found out that they both died within the past couple of days. It's not a good week for cinema.

Wait... the King of Zombies (George A. Romero) is dead? Cripes.. IDK what to say...

I've never seen any of the "Of the Dead" franchise as they are 18's here in the UK.. But I did play that Black Ops Zombies DLC Map with him in it.

But in truthness... Rest in peace, George A Romero (4 February 1940 - 16 July 2017 (77 years old)

Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie movie. If you are to only watch one of them, that should be it. Night of the Living Dead is the one most people would suggest but I find it a little slow for my taste.

Totally agree. I'm not big on zombie movies but I've seen both and Dawn of the Dead is a favorite for me.

Any self-respecting fan of horror should see at least the initial trilogy, to get an understanding of where the entire concept of modern "Zombies" come from.

Night of the Living Dead was the movie that invented the modern zombie.
Dawn of the Dead was the first movie to show an actual zombie apocalypse.
Day of the Dead is the movie that shows how humanity is the real threat in the end, rather than zombies.

You can ignore the modern day trilogy (Land, Diary and Survival), as they felt more "let's do some more because zombies are in these days and my name is still gold among genre fans" than movies that needed to be done.

The original three however. Well, that's where it all began. All the things we now consider cliche about zombies.
