Can someone explain to me why they are making a sequal staring tom cruise 25 years after the original?

Have there be a ton of people demanding this?

Oh they’re not? Is Cruise really that strapped for cash? Maybe Xenu stole it all.

The really are. Its already in pre-production, and Cruise confirmed he would star.

I wonder if they are going to get a now much fatter iceman to be his wingman.

I cannot tell you why. I do have to admit that I truly enjoyed Top Gun (25 years ago). I am sure that I would not want to watch Top Gun 2 though. I think Tom Cruise is a loser now.

Funny you should mention Cruise; I'm watching War of the Worlds right now. I will watch Top Gun 2 simply because I liked the first one and I want to see how it ends up.

It ends up with Iceman telling Maverick he can be his wingman any day and Cruise taking an instructor position at Top Gun.
It's not like there's some over arching plot thread that's been left dangling...
Hollywood hired some schmuck to write a screen play because it's an easy way to make a dollar.

I would so much more happy about this if it came out that the Navy was paying for this to happen....

I would be happier if they had a real idea and a real writer behind it. But I am very....very....doubtful of that.

I liked Top Gun. It's a good movie, even with Cruise. Tom Cruise just likes his face on things, that is probably the only reason it's being made.

To be completely fair Tom Cruise has been in a lot of good movies and has given many good performances. That fact has been largely overshadowed by his craziness and some of the bad movies he's been in, but shouldn't be ignored completely.
