Saw it yesterday. Pretty good. No disappointments, and I am dickishly tough on comic movies. They really got me on the Thanos reveal. How the Fbomb are they gonna do Infinity Gauntlet on film? *head asplodes*
Just me, or was the Cap helmet/mask kinda lame looking? They manage to mostly get his costume sorted for film, but they kinda fizzled out there. I was most pleased by their juggling of all those characters. I thought all along that would be the most difficult part.
And I am kinda bummed by the tendency in general to trot out generic cannon fodder villains, mirrors my disappointment with the mooks in the X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance videogame series. There are way too many distinctive mooks Marvel can trot out (AIM, Hydra, the Hand, etc) for the heroes to just punch on silvery alien/robot whatevers. I get that is a film concession, like why Foot Clan became robots in TMNT cartoons, but it still strikes me as lazy.
Also thought ScarJo did a great job considering I wanted to check her for a pulse in Iron Man 2. EDIT: in what circumstances would I not like to check that woman's pulse?
I am with you on the Cap helmet thing. Just dumb looking. Only real negative I can find. And ScarJo is helped greatly by Joss directing her. He has a hard-on for female badassery in shows/movies, and does right by his female leads. Had it been another director, I am certain she would have come off much much worse. I mean, he made Sarah Michael Geller (who I am 99% certain is a robot) work in Buffy.
