The Guardians movie has never gotten out of the rumor stage.

************************SPOILERS******************************

Someone behind me was talking throughout most of the movie. He was talking like he knew what he was talking about but really just sounded like an idiot. At the end of the credits he said, "ooooh, I think that's Hellboy!" when Thanos grinned. *picardfacepalm*

Saw it yesterday. Pretty good. No disappointments, and I am dickishly tough on comic movies. They really got me on the Thanos reveal. How the Fbomb are they gonna do Infinity Gauntlet on film? *head asplodes*

Just me, or was the Cap helmet/mask kinda lame looking? They manage to mostly get his costume sorted for film, but they kinda fizzled out there. I was most pleased by their juggling of all those characters. I thought all along that would be the most difficult part.

And I am kinda bummed by the tendency in general to trot out generic cannon fodder villains, mirrors my disappointment with the mooks in the X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance videogame series. There are way too many distinctive mooks Marvel can trot out (AIM, Hydra, the Hand, etc) for the heroes to just punch on silvery alien/robot whatevers. I get that is a film concession, like why Foot Clan became robots in TMNT cartoons, but it still strikes me as lazy.

Also thought ScarJo did a great job considering I wanted to check her for a pulse in Iron Man 2. EDIT: in what circumstances would I not like to check that woman's pulse?

The Chitauri we the Ultimate Skrull, right? It was weird that they called them Chitauri but they weren't shapeshifters.

I am with you on the Cap helmet thing. Just dumb looking. Only real negative I can find. And ScarJo is helped greatly by Joss directing her. He has a hard-on for female badassery in shows/movies, and does right by his female leads. Had it been another director, I am certain she would have come off much much worse. I mean, he made Sarah Michael Geller (who I am 99% certain is a robot) work in Buffy.

That is my thought. It is definitely the same name as in the Ultimate (although in later Ultimate Fantastic Four comics it is pointed out they are a rouge group of the skrulls, and not the skrulls themselves), but could be a coincidence.

I think the problem with Cap's helmet is that it treads this awkward line between being a helmet and being a mask. It should just have been tight fabric like in the comics instead of being this strange puffy thing.

Soooo...I finally seen this thang yesterdee. Coupla thoughts:

As much as I love Scarlett in that leather outfit, and looooooved all the great butt shots, I feel like she was kinda "shoe-horned in" just to have a female character. The only cringe-worthy scene, IMO, was when she jumped on the alien speederbike thingie.

I did enjoy the Hulk's comic relief, but I was a little disappointed in the lack of transition between him raging and trying to kill The Widow and "OK, I'm on your team now!"

I was a little let down by the "secret alien race" hype. Why keep such a silly little secret? Hype, hype, hype.

With those minor criticisms aside, this movie was about as good as a two-hour film based on comic books can get--I'll still nestle it in at number two behind X-Men 2, though.
