Wait, Will Smith is a better actor than he gets credit for. He has come a very long way since his Fresh Prince days.

Another actor worth noting is Leonardo DiCaprio. I consider him to be one of the best if not THE best actor of his generation.

I thought of dicaprio too. I think Damon is better, but only by a measure of taste.

I agree, although I really liked decaprio in blood diamond. My gut feeling is Damien has more range.

What I loved is how in Blood Diamond DiCaprio had something like 2 weeks to prepare and he nailed that dialect.

He was also really good in J Edgar recently.

Matt Damon is also really good, and I've really grown to like him. I don't think he's better than DiCaprio, if anything they're about the same.

I think Damon has a bit more range than DiCaprio... my thinking being that I haven't really seen Leo be funny or, more importantly, laugh at his own expense. Sometimes I feel like he takes his shit a little too serious.
Also, I think I'm biased because I like more Damon movies.

We should do a plus and minus chart..

+1 DiCaprio: was on Growing Pains
-2 DiCaprio: every time I hear that Celine Deon song. (and I'm sorry, that movie is kind of a piece of shit)

Plus, Damon shows up in Kevin Smith movies and is pretty funny in them. And I don't think he gets enough credit for his first movie...He put up a solid performance in Good Will Hunting.

Well, it wasn't his fault.

Will Smith has matured as an actor I suppose maybe(how could he not over 2 decades), but nobody in my era personified movie star not actor more than him and/or Cruise. MIB/WWW/I Robot/Hancock/Indpendence Day/Bad Boys, sure you can defend with, 'not movies that emphasized characterization anyhow', but all those characters might have about an ounce of differential between them. Hey, for some things, an ounce is a lot ;-)

I think Hancock stands out from this list as all the other characters were pretty much the same, but felt Hancock was different enough. Still didn't like the movie or anything.
