I generally don't have problems with most of the 80s special effects, but Last Starfighter is a special kind of bad in the space combat scene. It was a model with a blocky atari level cgi backdrop. That is pretty bad. The effects in the rest of the movie were fine, it was just that battle scene that was terrible.

You can't say Flight of the Navigator, Batteries Not Included and Short Circuit without adding The Goonies. I'm with you Maidel. I saw these movies so many times, I can quote most of them. Good clean flicks for kids though. We need more of them.

Actually, not such good clean fun. I showed this to my 10 year old the other day, and one-eyed willie gave him nightmares.

I love movies of the 80s though I didn't watch them when they were first released. I love Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to The Future, and of course Look Who's Talking.

I am going to assume that last one was a joke.

Nightmares are not good but in a way, it lets you know that he is still a fairly pure little guy. You protect him as long as you can. Some of the stuff on TV now is way worse than Willie.

Well, the Star Wars movies are kinda in the "given" category. Its like saying Ghostbusters, Goonies, or Princess Bride.

It reminds me when I was dating my future wife and was trying to show her how sensitive I am. So I've decided to show her "Princess Bride". I was crying my eyes out (You know, the whole "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." - don't tell me You didn't shed a tear) and she... didn't like it.
But, fortunately, movie she brought was Goonies, so everything turned out OK.

It's great for guys and gals. You've got a princess and love... and giants and eels.
