Just watched the trailer for the Judge Dredd remake that is coming out in September this year. Doesn't look too bad. http://video.search.yahoo.com/search/vi ... ailer+2012
What do you think?

That doesn't look too promising as far as I'm concerned... I think this will be just a mindless, meandering action flick with a lot of explosions and no depth or subtlety.

But I could be wrong.

So, I'm guessing that you think Iron Man and Thor has depth and meaning instead of being mindless meandering action flicks? All are out to save the world one way or another. What else is there?

Character development, setting and subtlety. Plot twists. That kind of stuff. Iron Man definitely did not lack these things, and Thor... Partially lacked them. I am afraid this movie might not be more than just explosions. There's more to movies than that, even when it comes to the big superhero/action-type Hollywood big ones.

That's how 90% of trailers are made, its meant to draw people in. They can't show how a character develops in this amount of time.

True enough. I suppose it's more of a gut feeling than anything else, but we'll see how it'll turn out! :D

I think Judge Dredd is an interesting movie...for fans of Sylvester Stallone and his movies. I am not a big fan of him though. No offense, but I think there are many better movies to remake than the movie.

They're not remaking the Sylvester Stallone movie. There is no relation. If anything they're trying to make a film that's actually true to the comic, unlike the Sylvester Stallone movie. Having read a good number of the Judge Dredd strips from 2000 AD (which are really good imo) and realizing (from interviews) that the creators working on the new film are genuine fans of the source material, I would say I'm very excited for the film. But, you never know.

I quite liked the Stallone movie, in a crappy b-movie kind of way rather than because it was any good..

I'm not much of a Stallone fan either, but. There's always a but. I am interested in the Dredd remake. If what you say is true, then it lends itself to be better than the "B" Stallone flick. Don't you think?
