Just caught the Fanstastic Four movie on TV yesterday afternoon and had forgotten how good it was. I really felt sorry for "The Thing" when his girlfriend dumped him. Slut! :(

I never really got behind the movies. I think that and the first twenty or thirty issues of their comics (not to mention Ultimate FF) left a really bad taste in my mouth. Now that I've gotten a few years into their comics, I'm a bigger fan than I was. I just couldn't stand the movie, especially the sequel.

For me, the FF movies are pretty bad. They aren't Ghost Rider bad, but pretty close.

The first one was pretty inoffensive to my mind, not good, but not a bad movie either really. The second was a turd.

I own both of them. I have watched them both once. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of them is because they're a part of my complete marvel dvd collection.

I'm not a huge fan, but I wouldn't mind watching FF again. It really sucked for The Thing to get dumped, but I guess he had to hit rock bottom before he could accept himself in his new form.

That is a classic conundrum from the comics. The Thing coming to gribs with his "monster" appearance was a big character development for him.

Funny thing is, in the 70s there was an arc where Reed managed to make Ben able to change forms at will but also messed with his temperament. Right at the end, the personality problem is fixed and Reed basically says "If we do it again, it will definitely work" and Ben refuses.

I gather that Ben's image issues don't completely go away from this point, so in retrospect he was a bit of an idiot for passing that offer up. Especially since, if he wanted, he coulda just stayed in Thing form all the time anyway. It'd still be nice to have the option to change if you need it.

I have never actually seen the FF movies. I was kinda aiming to go through and watch all of the Marvel movies at some point.. quite daunting though as some of them are pretty bad.

I gathered from that first FF movie that Ben wanted to be changed back to normal but when he was, he was helpless. He had gotten used to all that power really quick and when it was gone, well, no more Thing. I am glad he finally came to grips with who he really was.
