I'll read mostly anything given it's not a romance novel. Most books I read are beneath my reading level, but I find them entertaining. I'm currently enjoying the New Jedi Order series, the Ranger's Apprentice series, Timeline by Michael Crichton, and re-reading both my complete collection of the Hardy Boys books and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

I've also recently read: Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, and The Da Vinci Code, Empire by Orson Scott Card, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, and several more of Michael Crichton's books.

If you like sci-fi, check out On Armagedon Reef and the 4 books that follow it, or Path of Fury. Really anything by David Weber.

I read Playboy for the articles....

But seriously, I read mostly sci-fi stuff and was pretty hard into Star Wars up until Phantom Menace came out. Have always wanted to check out Le Carre since I've read a lot of Deighton and enjoyed that. And I have to agree with Doom about the Bourne series, the first was good but after that they went pretty stale. I also enjoy reading history books on various subjects.

Yea, love history books too. Any favorites?

My all time favorite history book is Washing of the Spears.

I love Tolkien.

I also love CS Lewis' Space Trilogy, Kevin J Anderson's Jedi Academy trilogy, RA Salvatore (both the Drizzt stuff and the Demon Wars stuff).

I read Terry Brooks' Wizard's First Rule and loved it... but I haven't read any of his other stuff. I haven't done as much reading over the past several years. I got married and have a hard time getting in to big long books. I've stuck with comics because they seem to be easier to read in little chunks, they're a little more casual, and definitely more portable since I don't have a Nook.

Wizards First Rule was good (It was Terry Goodkind, but Brooks has more books on the shelves so that is a mistake I have made a bunch of times), the next 4 in the series are pretty good too, but it starts going downhill pretty fast after that. I gave up after book 6...but the first 4 definitely worth a read for "modern" fantasy.

You're right, I have a bunch of Shannara books. This isn't the first time I've gotten the two mixed up. I will probably read the other 3 of the first 4 eventually. Right now I'm reading The Hobbit to my wife so she's caught up with the story in the movies. I'm filling her in on the necromancer/white council plots that will also be in the movie.

Speaking of Shannara. Elfstones was pretty good. I didn't care much for the other books I've read in the series. I liked the blatant copy of Drizzt in The Sword of Shannara (I believe it was that one)... a weapons master with white hair, all rogue and unstoppable. It was a sort of cameo. I imagine he has a bigger part in other books of his, because it was a pointless part of the story otherwise.

The Hobbit was really good, I much prefer it to LOTR. Although it's not as broad, it just seems to be much better paced.

I usually go for fantasy books, personally. My current favourite author is probably Robin Hobb, I've read most of her work and loved every second. I'm waiting for her latest book with bated breath. I generally like books with some sort of adventure, and usually this is best in fantasy.

Growing up I used to love Treasure Island, and Moonfleet by J. Meade Faulkner is one of my favourite books of all-time.
