I'm watching Batman Begins right now and it has some pretty intense music. I wouldn't buy the soundtrack for it, but none-the-less, what is your favorite movie soundtrack?

I always liked the Angus soundtrack when I was in high school.

It had a killer Green Day song in "J.A.R.", a pretty good Goo Goo Dolls song (Ain't That Unusual), two fun songs by Ash (who I had never heard of), Weezer's contribution to the "Best Songs Shorter than 2 Minutes" list, and a kick-ass song called "Am I Wrong" by Love Spit Love.
And the rest of the songs don't warrant skipping either!!

Runner Up: Pulp Fiction. Love every song on there.

I am not an Elfman fan (I find him really repetitive), but the score to Stargate always works for me.

Angus!

As for best soundtrack I'd have to go with Layer Cake. It has a nice mix like Pulp Fiction but doesn't have that little bit of Tarantino pretentiousness. Something the director, Matthew Vaughan, had with his two earlier movie works with Guy Ritchie. Shit, now I want to watch Layer Cake again.

I am curious, when you guys think of soundtracks, do you think of the ones with licensed songs? Or the scored music?

hmmm, I guess licensed music is what I was going with. Actual score? Probably Elfman's Batman or Empire Strikes Back

Something classy like Last of the Mohicans or Ravenous. Honorable mention, something not classy: Ford Fairlane, Rock and Roll Detective.

I can not believe you just put up a Dice Clay movie for contention.

I have it on cassette. Some decent tracks. Just wanted to stir up controversy, just like the Diceman. Quantas, jujube, salsito, Ford Fairlane.

Liberal PC disclaimer. As an adult, Dice is pretty misogynistic. I think I was too young to know his comedy, but I really liked Ford Fairlane and Brainsmasher: A Love Story.

Andrew Dice Clay? Wow! I don't think I ever watched or listened to anything of his that I liked. I'm not really into soundtracks though. I can't think of any that I had to have.
