A good scientist always shows his work. I found the article I remembered. From a 2008 issue of Wired.

http://www.wired.com/culture/culturereviews/magazine/16-07/st_essay

From the article,
"It's not merely that English will be salted with Chinese vocabulary for local cuisine, bon mots, and curses or that speakers will peel off words from local dialects. The Chinese and other Asians already pronounce English differently — in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways."

I was thinking of it as more a hybridization of the two languages than we're familiar with, you know? Like a compound not easily separated back into its constituent ingredients.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself well. What I meant is if you combine English and Chinese into one language written in the roman alphabet, it's basically English with some different vocabulary thrown in.

It depends on syntax. If you go with Chinese syntax, in roman alphabet, it would be pretty different then english with chinese words.

If you look at it, I wouldn't be surprised if it evolved without English syntax. English is fairly unique in some of its grammerical and structure, when compared with other languages. Learning other languages, you see how it is easier and makes mores sense to use the syntax from other languages then English.

Yes. Very true.

However we were, correct me if I'm wrong, talking about something that was loosely based on a concept in an American tv program? Therefore I assumed they would use English sentence structure.

I wasn't meaning that it would take that style, just referencing. Your riht about the show, but then it was written by present day English speakers, so they had little choice. Had they gone more to where the language would more readily evolve in that possibility, it would be unintelligible to viewers.

Chinese English (chinglish?) may well become an international language for those that need to communicate internationally but I don't think it will be spoken in the home or in places that have their own national language anytime soon. People are very committed to their own languages and feel that changing their language compromises their cultural identity. Quebec has passed laws to keep themselves french speaking and to prevent themselves from becoming English speaking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charter_of ... h_Language
