I love ribs! I can't make them for crap though. Surely one of you can help! I have grilled ribs and they are super tough. I want my meat to be flavorful but not tough. I also don't want them falling off the bone.

Turn the temperature down and cook them a bit longer

I echo the above. Also, marimate them for a few hours in whatever marinade you wish to construct. I don't know of your committing this particular sin, but I know a lot of people who brush the sauce on afterwards, you get a much brr flavour with a marinade.

We cheat and bake them for about 45 minutes and then toss them on the grill. The meat is much more tender this way. We also brush BBQ sauce on in the last 15 minutes of grilling.

Don't do the sauce late. Soak them in it for a few hours beforehand.

Seriously you bake them first? That sounds like a good idea. Oh I wouldn't sauce only in the last 15 minutes. I'm a marinade type of gal. I think every piece of meat needs to soak up some sauce. Thanks! I will try turning down the heat. About how long do you leave them on the grill if you turn the heat down?

Why would you want it not to be fall off the bone tender. That is what I like best about ribs.

I disagree. I prefer ribs that stick to the bone and make you gnaw it off. I'm not sure what the difference is prepping one or the other is though.

Big difference is cook time. You have to do extra prep for lower cook time to make it still tender but not fall off the bone.

When I make ribs in the slow cooked I want the meat to fall off the bone. When I grill them I want the meat to stay on the bone. I like to pick it up and eat it! I do want tender though both ways.
