On top of that, Disney just put out a Spider-Man app that is not for reading straight comics but is interactive Spidey experience targeted at 4-10 year olds (wow, that is a big range for kids, not sure you can make something appeals to both a 4 and a 10 year old)...

A Marvel gateway drug for kids perhaps?

I read this article on Digital Comics, and couldn't disagree more.

Yeah. It was a pretty hollow article. Didn't really say much.

I actually agree with most of the points on that article. The only issue I have is that he suggests same-day releases are a bad thing, that's just dumb.

Although most of the comics I have read have been in digital form, I much prefer having and reading a physical copy.

Also, the point he makes about screwing over small businesses is quite interesting because I was talking to the guys who run my local comic shop a few weeks back and they are all for digital comics. They were talking about the whole thing where issues of the Ultimate imprint come in sealed bags with codes for free copies (I think the UK are behind the US in that regard) with some degree of excitement. I asked them if they felt that digital comics were harming their business and they said it was quite the contrary - they have actually been benefitting from it. As I understand it they have managed to get directly involved in the digital side of things as well, and are flourishing as a result.

Do you have more specifics on that. I am curious how the retail store gets involved with selling digital copies??

I found this post on their website.

They are a pretty forward thinking bunch, to be honest. Though they're based in a single bricks and mortar store, they have fingers in a lot of pies. I'm pretty fortunate it's so close to where I live, because there aren't too many comic shops around here.

That is cool there is that opportunity. I am not sure if my local shop is participating, but I will have to ask them
