I just listened to an interview with Stan Lee from last year (on the Nerdist podcast), and he was talking about the Marvel Method. Basically he would give the writer a brief overview of the story (who the character fought, any big events) and let the artist draw it and he would just go back and fill in the dialog later. This bugs me, as it really wasn't being made by an actual writer, but he sounds really positive about it.

What do you guys think? Has anyone heard this before (I know its not new, but its new to me)?

1. it's crazy to think they used to do it that way.
2. it's probably the only way to churn out as much material as he was.
3. I think it kinda has to show that not much emphasis was placed on dialogue.

DOOM thanks Mr. lee for his creation. And that is all. His befuddled mind is not fit to give voice to such as DOOM!

I have found that with lots of Silver age Marvels especially, the quality of the story (not just the artwork) is more dependent on the 'artist' than the 'writer'

I love looking Gene Colan's artwork but I can't stand to read most of the Marvel stories he illustrated. I would guess that his creative influence on the plots and storylines has something to do with that.

Stan Lee gets credit for 'writing' a lot of titles he merely dialogued I think.
