I think I misunderstood this topic the previous time I posted something here, so I hasten to correct my mistake:

My favourite moment in comic book EVER has to be that one:

Image

I mean: it doesn't have to be Republic. How many times have we seen Marvel or DC villain talking, talking, talking and talking while heroes just saved the world. ALAN MOORE IS GENIUS, because it takes genius to come up with something so simple, yet so powerfull.

My favourite moment in Marvel has to be that one:

I mean: Chris Claremont was the former writer of Ms Marvel. He changed 2nd rate heroine in one of reader's favourite character. And than someone else "got" her and what did he do? He literally raped her. And didn't even have the decency to admit it was his idea. How many times does someone get the oportunity to undo the damage done to his creation? I must admit I haven't read avengers 200. Essential Ms. Marvel was my first contact with Carol Danvers (because I didn't know that Ms. Marvel=Binary). And I don't know if that's because/despite of that but Avengers Annual 10 totally blew my mind.

Super agree with this. Great call. If you were the right age to be familiar with media villains' ineptitude/psychoses, but not to have seen the concept deconstructed yet, this did blow your mind into little bitty chunks you had to wipe off the page of the copy of Watchmen you had borrowed from your local library and hope they didn't charge you for messing up their comic.

Ditto on Ozymandias revealing his fait accompli. Some of my favorites have been:

Kitty phasing the Breakworld "bullet" thing through Earth. I didn't read the story as it came out, and I remember hearing about it and thinking, "That sounds stupid." But Whedon does such a great job in his whole run, and that climax in particular was amazing ... Kitty realizing she's not going to survive this, the other heroes realizing she's not going to survive and that there's nothing they can do about it, and her determination to go out saving the world. Very powerful stuff.

From Civil War, the death of Bill Foster. And the subsequent beatdown of "Ragnarok" by Hercules.

From Kingdom Come, the moment when Superman grabs Captain Marvel by the face mid-"SHAZAM!"

And I'm not sure how it holds up now, but my seventh grade self was totally rocked by the moment when Hulk punched Onslaught so hard that it fused the atoms between his fist and Onslaught's body, creating a massive release of energy. Years from now I'll be revisiting this as part of the Order and I'm anxious to see whether or not it holds up.

I want to second Reed's call of the issue before the rocket issue. It was badd asss!

Oh and speaking of seconding calls, I'll echo that Captain America's plunge from the Helicarrier was epic. Totally got me into Civil War, hook, line, and sinker. Awesome to then read through the Order and see that in the second major SHIELD arc, Nick Fury jumps off the helicarrier through a window after being confronted by SHIELD agents that are looking to put him on ice. Kind of made the Civil War incident that much cooler, just to see that it was an homage.

I was thinking the same thing...although with that much of a time gap, do you think it was on purpose?

Seems pretty deliberate in retrospect. I'm sure that the writers do their research (who wrote that issue? Bendis?).

Zwei all the ones you cited are pretty damn good.
