Anybody see the Bones 'horseplay' episode?

I love that show. Hate that episode.

In fact, I hate it only slightly less than the episode where they come to the uk. I realised after watching it that I think my accent is closer to bones and booths than it was to the utterly god awful British accents in the show.

The one truism I have found in movies and tv, is if a subject touches something you are knowledgeable about (and I won't dwell on why you are knowledgeable on furries), they always get a lot wrong and it comes of as insane. I know about computers, so when you get the "tech" talking about "tracking the hacker back using honey farms and snorting their IP" (I swear to god that is actual dialog, I have to stop watching.

My wife is a PhD cancer researcher, she refuses to watch House.

My dad for a while made a living playing poker, and rounders drives him into fits.

My take away, Hollywood sucks at research.

Bones bones bones...*shakes head*. Again, failure to recognize cultural differences. I can see how those episodes would be offensive to UK natives. Could they not get somebody who had at least been there to be like, uh...that extra does not sound like he's from Gloucester or wherever? No, they're all fish and chips, Big Ben, bobbies and lorries, top of the morning gov. Manage to be offensive to Americans and subjects of the crown at the same time.

Oh, for the record furries and horsey people kinda squick me out. No judgement, just weird to me. But I thought I had seen where reps of those groups were pissy about their portrayal on these shows. I know as a comic dude I was pissed at Psych. Damn you, Psych for that one lame episode in a sea of otherwise good to kickass episodes! You let me down when I needed you most!

Didn't quite manage to be offensive :)

The Simpsons do full on parody when they did the Australia/uk episodes, and that's fine, but bizzarely, they actually managed to be less offensive even while intentionally taking the **** than bones did while trying to be serious (ish).

In defense of that episode, George Take was great.

So, it's Alan Scott. The Golden Age Green Lantern. Debut July 1940. First chairman of the vaunted Justice Society. Possibly the most powerful dude named GL in the game, and considering he's kind of magic, he might be more powerful than Superman. IDK. Not sure how relevant he is right now, been out of the loop. Sounds like doing a golden age character is bad two ways. Relevancy/activity. Do modern readers know this guy? Continuity/history. Has he always been? Does this alter like 60 years of established timeline? Ah, I read further and it is part of the New 52 Earth 2 reboot. Not sure if this is the right play, but we'll wait to read it I suppose.

Protip: if you google 'gay green lantern', do not accidentally click images. Leave your safe search on red alert, people!

Oh, wikipedia article refers to GL's power as 'solid light constructs', I just called it 'can make boxing gloves and shit'.

And another thing. Romance or relationship stuff is not a major part of most comics. Will they be able to insert that sort of thing organically?
