It is for one characters stories. Relationships have been a major factor in Parker's character development over the years(also to harken back to an older topic, geeky Peter Parker gets an insane amoun of action). Gwen Stacy, mj, black cat, Betty brant...all had an impact in some decree on who he is as a character, and are one of the reasons I like the title so much.

The breakdown of hank and Janet's mariage played some part in the direction of the 80s era avengers.

True it generally isn't a what the comics are about, and it is getting so much press just because of the "sensationalism" and not for ny ood reason, And my guess is it I'll not be very organic...bu there are times when it is a major prt of some comcs.

Before this, I thought you had read comics before. Now, not so sure.

C'mon depends entirely how you read the words major and most. Sorry your boy BMB came in and had everybody navelgaze and talk about their feelings. For like 5 static panels per page.

I thought you liked Invincible??

And relationships were a MAJOR part of comics since the dawn of Marvel.
Maybe you need to read some of those crappy comics from the 60s and get you some learnin'.

I get what you guys are saying, but comics is and has always been and will always be about brightly colored dudes and dudesses womping on each other. As much as I enjoyed a Civil War or a Secret Invasion, you know we were really all just waiting for the big splash panel where everybody charges into a melee free for all in Manhattan somewheres. Character development? B plots about relationships? A Jedi needs not these things. Main point just that everything they do with newly gay Alan Scott, they're going to have a lot of eyes on them. Need whatever relationship stuff they do with him to seem organic and not forced.

Ahem,

What about the romance comics that marvel published for years.... Are they about people womping on each other?

Sorry, ignoring that facetious answer above, I've always considered the romance aspects of the characters are fairly integral to the story, it's not like it's unique to just a few characters, even villans and minor characters tend to pick up love interests as time goes on.

Romance comics aren't comics. When I refer to comics I mean mainstream capes type of titles. Obviously there are many other genres that don't emphasize womping. You guys want to throw some Archie at me now?

I get that they're a facet. Everything is about relationships, depending on how you define the term, but 'integral'? I disagree. Yeah, they can be cool story elements, Peter Parker is profoundly influenced by his relationships and romances, the X-men over the years have been like a junior high school study hall full of hormonally jacked up adolescents. Supes has Lois, lots of DCers have wives or sig ots. Batman has lots of ladies in and out of costume. This is really just semantics over the uses of major and most. Judge Dredd don't need no ladies bringing him down. Just blast some lawbreakers.
