about another hundred or so and new titles should start poping up. You are about to hit the point where they started rolling out a bunch of new titles.

I realize it was two pages ago already, but someone asked whether it was a good investment to buy the Marvel Masterworks collections. I didn't think of it until fairly recently, but my local library carries at least the first few volumes of all the major titles. If you have access to a decently large library system, it's worth checking into. Of course, you don't get to keep them, but you can't really beat free! And you can always check them out again if you want to re-read.

Nice. Have you explained in another post how you are going about creating this order? Do you have some huge collection of comic books? Are you reading them as you go or?

I do have a really big collection of comics, plus marvel digital unlimited. What I am missing I make up with online lists. Although the biggest help comes from site users.

Well, just readed Journey Into Mystery 91, nr 44 in the order, nothing new I would say, Thor and Ant-Man follow with few or no novelty, although achieved one good story sometime. For me what makes them specially bad is the lack of character development, specially Henry Pym and Don Blake (as opposed by the hero I mean), we know exactly the same about them as we did in their first appearings! F4 follows very good, as expected, you can see how Stan was on top those times, at least with this gang, both by the way he answered (and choosed) the letters and the daring (at least for me) plots (like hitchhiking, the funny impossible man and the way Lee and Kirby appeared with Dr. Doom. Spider-Man just debuted, but the difference I noted is that the magazine itself was not about Spidey, but about Peter Parker. Need to wait nr 2 and so on come to see if it keep this way, but this is what I believed created his instant success. Iron-Man just debuted, but I didn't like this first issue, need to see how he develops. What is really impressing me is The Hulk, at least in this fresh start things are going fairly good!!!

It's almost one month since I started (27 days) and I've read 44 issues, what means I'll need more than 7 year to achieve jan. 1982, where the order is by now!! Wow, this is frightening, as I already lost productivity!!!!!!

I wonder, how many comics come out per month in Marvel Universe nowadays?? Will I actually achieve it someday??? Oh god Odin, I really hope so!!!

About 400 issue in and I've been using Marvel Unlimited for all my reading, I've been grabbing a one month card and reading till I'm sick of it then letting it expire until I get that Marvel itch again. So far the only things that are missing have been Tales to Astonish 54-58 and the Giant Man stories in 60-69. The Nick Fury stories in Strange Tales were missing but they were added at some point in the past few months since my last subscription. Around when in the order does MDU stop being useful?

It seems that the cheapest way to read the bulk of the order would be to pick up those DVD collections they released a few years ago. You would have most of the major comic series from the 60's up till Civil War. They seem to be going for a few hundred in most places online, but I'm sure you could find them cheaper if you hunt around. Even at the higher prices it would still be cheaper than collecting the issues in trade, especially when many of those issues haven't been collected yet.

MDU works pretty good until 1968 or so and picks up again in the mid to late 80's.
