Wow. I didn't realize there was a gap that big!

There are hit and misses. So series show are available, every now and then, they add a few more. But generally, yea, they have ignored the 70's as a whole.

That's disappointing since its the same way with the Masterworks for the most part. Masterworks can only follow the order until the early 1970s.

Yes, 70's really gets the shaft. I have picked up a lot of books from used book stores and online to cover those periods. There are holes however.

Until Marvel makes more available, many have had to go with ... other options, in order to find those.

I don't really have any moral qualms about ... other options here. I'm paying them a monthly fee to read old comics, and read old comics I shall.

There is an interesting article out, that I can not find the link to. It was a pretty well known journalist who argued that piracy isn't abut theft, its about convenience. That a large number of those who participate in piracy would be just as likely to pay if the product they could buy was as convenient as the pirated material. (That was one point, the article as a whole argued that piracy wasn't theft, and gave several reasons why he thought that).

I agree with this. To be honest, there was a time I had done a little extra-legal acquiring of comics, because there wasn't a digital option. Since comiXology came out, I have instead spent hundreds of dollars on comics there just because it is convenient and I find the product is far superior to the scanned versions of the same. Not happy about the price, and on many issues I wait for sales to pick them up, but I have been buying a lot there lately (I am fine paying 1.99 for a digital comic and $10 for a trade, but I refuse to pay 3.99 for a single issue. I can go without the comic if it is at that price).

A great way to get some of the 70s material is to pick up the DVDs from a few years ago. I've got the DVDs for Spidey, FF, Avengers, and X-Men and you can't beat the value for the price (the original price; I've heard some online sellers now are charging way more for them).

Yep, I did the same thing. Also got the Iron Man and Captain America DVDs as well. They are a great resource if you can find them.

Agreed on the convenience issue. For example, back in the day, I used to use Napster all the time. Now I have no problem buying an mp3 from amazon or apple or whoever, even though I could still go out and get a pirated version. Since the legal one is at a good price and a convenient format, it's worth it. This is why apple's stupid proprietary formats are dumb; they basically encourage users to do the illegal thing. Good thing they've relaxed on that front a bit.

I sure can agree with that tsarnes, I live in Brazil, sometimes I series I like watching isn't playing on any cable tv channel we got here. Will I wait one year to see if it will be aired here or not? Other times it's about quality, i.e. the Lost official subtitles were of poor quality, they shortened many texts, sometimes changing contexts so they were easier to read, but people were doing very good translations and releasing them online the they after episodes aired in USA, sure I was getting those episodes with the real feel of it.

I am getting all my comics online for now, most of them from those 2007 DVD's, the quality is by far worst than Digital Comics but incomeless as I am now I can't afford it, on the other hand, reading the order has convinced me to get an marvel comics signature here in Brazil as soon as I can pay for it, and sometime I will get a Digital Comics pass too.
