So I am hitting the mid 70s, and man, the writing is definitly dropping in quality. Some of the books I previously started liking are sliding in quality, and a lot of these new titles poping up are just bad.

The question really is if you like Steve Englehart or not since he seems to be writing pretty much every title at the point where you and I are. I like his style, but I can see how it might not be for everyone.

Generally, I don't really like his writing much. The stories are getting generally dumber as I am going. Not all the titles. Werewolf by Night has a good issue here or there, Spider-Man is still ok, but damn, Iron Man is just terrible and so is Tomb of Dracula.

I'm not too far off from where you are. I'm really not digging all the horror comics. I just read the death of gwen stacey, it felt a little underwhelming.

Yea, its history has been so built up so its hard to live up to that history. I liked the turn they put peter through post her death however.

It's one of those things where if you know it's coming, it's not going to have the kind of impact as it might otherwise. I try to imagine what it might have been like for fans at the time. There is a great letter a few issues later that's worth reading (I can't remember which issue but I (for some odd reason) remember the writer was from Gainsville.

It did really come out of no where. I was surprised by how fast it happened with little fanfare. I thought perhaps it wasn't really her death at first, but some other she seemed to die but didn't storyline.
