You are reading all the letters? Holy crap, you will be reading for the next 40 years.

I know his pain. When I get time, I've been reading Cerebus, and I read the letters too. It takes twice as long as the friggin issue.

I just found this site probably two weeks and restarted the reading order I began a couple of years ago. My first attempt didn't make it very far because a lot of the first 200 issues are really bad. But I'm using the sites badges to keep myself motivate until I get to the good stuff lol.

Power through, the early 300 is hard, but it gets better.

You just have to have willpower at the front end.

Also, read the comments on those issues. Get fueled by the hate of other members who hate the same issues that you do.

Well that was another thing, I've posted comments on every issue expressing my hatred for them, with the only exception being the Spider-Man issues as they seem to be miles ahead of the other material within the first 300.

That holds true for a long time. Where I am (1800s) Avengers is not bad, I enjoy Captain America, FF has its good moments, but spider-man is still the best title I am reading

Spider Man and Captain America were my big surprises of the early stuff. Both characters I never really cared for, but enjoyed far more than say X-Men, or The Fantastic Four, who are still, even where I am getting to the beginning of the 70's,pretty bloody awful, despite them being exactly the groups that brought me into reading here in the first place.

The true problem with the early 60s stuff is that there is little to no character development. So far from where I'm at in the reading order, the Fantastic Four have had 12 issues and only The Thing has had any noticeable amount of progression. It's also frustrating reading the Human Torch solos because he's the flattest member at this point. Why they opted for him to star in a spin-off series first and not The Thing is beyond me.

The Torch solo run doesn't last very long, and I agree that it's awful. I don't think I enjoyed any of it.

I finally reached my first milestone: the last of the Giant-Man stories in Tales to Astonish. It was hard slogging through them all (I made myself do so because I'm a completist), but I'm glad I'm finally done. Now I can look forward to my next milestone, the introduction of the Inhumans in FF. :)

I know I was super excited when I passed the end of TTA, ST, and ToS. Started getting to full issues.
