Best tip I can give is, go at your own pace. You can get bogged down sometimes in slow runs. Take a break and then come back at it fresh.

Also make sure you look ahead from time to time to set goals for issues and events that you really want to read. That will help inspire you to power through when you hit a series that's in a rut.

Good point. I have those important issue/arc waypoints in my reading I want to reach. Its also why I put in the badges. If I see I am 1 issue away from Thor silver badge, and there is a thor issue close, I will push through to get to that issue and get the badge. Little goals help.

Hey everybody! I've always wanted to read Marvel Comics, but I i thought the continuity was just too complicated for me to start reading modern issues, and couldn't find a suitable reading order for everything that had been published up to that point. So, the only thing i could do, was read everything in the Ultimate universe.

I did that, and it was fun for a while, but then the quality of the writing started getting worse, and the universe itself became just as convoluted... So I decided to try the original Marvel universe again!

My only problem is, while I really respect Stan Lee as a creator, I find his 60s writing a bit too corny... The only solution I have found, is to read only the Essential order, up until the Kree-Skrull war. From that point on, i plan on switching to the normal order. What do you think? Thanks for creating this site, i find it very helpful! :)

As good of a plan as any. The first decade can be rough and is not for everybody. You should start where it's enjoyable to you.

Just on to say hello and offer a big thank you for making this site. It's an excellent idea and I'm glad someone else decided to do it, thus not forcing me to dedicate the time and effort to figuring it all out. Sitting at just over 200 hundred read at this point and I'm definitely seeing an improvement in that time within the comics. I'm eagerly awaiting some of the key eras and story lines to come.

Hello everyone im Jay an a long time fan of Spiderman.. But when I got up to like ASM#170 it kept telling me Spiderman had been doing other things in other books.. So I would have to find that comic book an that made me wonder what else I missed. So I said the hell with it I will start from the beginning.. So thanks so much tstarnes... Keep up the good work...

xxx1293xxx: I had the same problem. I tried to do it by date, but got lost, so then there was a excel spreadsheet that got out of hand, and finally the site itself. I looked forever for something like this and when I found it didn't exist I was like, "I am good and organizing data, what the hell". Who knew it would end up to be all consuming...

Enjoy reading the order, and take part in the talks here in the forms. Lots of people are in the first decade, some interesting conversations to be had.
