Ahh, I was wondering. I had a listing for Age of the Empress, but then couldn't find anything but Glass Empires when I started looking for it..

Oops, I edited my post to ask an additional question, but you replied before I hit "submit." What do you think about my other question there?

On the book first, do you have a link to a cover where it actually shows Age of the Empress. Everything seems to point back to Glass Empires instead.

On the other thing. So you are saying go ahead and put the last enterprise episode in place before that book? If I do that, In later books, do you know if they refer to the federation or should the other enterprise books be moved up before the last episode and then novel that alters it?

Glass Empires is the anthology. The novellas are published within it. So, the individual stories don't have their own covers, but should just have the Glass Empires cover (just like individual stories within Strange New Worlds anthology books).

Regarding Enterprise: I would simply put the episode "These are the Voyages" at the end of Enterprise season 4, right before The Good That Men Do. The novels that follow do not refer to the Federation until it is actually founded several years later. Between Enterprise and the founding of the Federation, you only get references to The Coalition of Planets (with the exception of the flashforward framing story in The Good That Men Do; the frame story has Jake Sisko and Nog, but you can't put the novel way in the future, since the other post-Enterprise novels build off of the events of The Good That Men Do). So basically, don't move anything except place "These are the Voyages" right before The Good That Men Do.

This is where things get a little complicated. Enterprise is a prequel, and it was made with the knowledge of all of the other shows and movies. There are call forwards to The Original Series and The Next Generation in lots of episodes ("Regeneration" and the Vulcan Surak trilogy among them). "These are the Voyages" is just a bit more explicit about it. To me, it makes sense to put "These Are the Voyages" right after "Terra Prime."

Voyager's "Living Witness" has a frame story that is centuries after the show, but I would not make that the last TV episode in the order, either. It makes sense to keep TV episodes in the context of their respective series.

The Good That Men Do is set mainly in 2155, but it has a frame from the early 25th century with Jake and Nog asking questions about the historical record (the events seen in "These Are the Voyages"). The other books continue the 22nd century storyline with no frame story. Not only does the frame mention the Federation, but it also references, directly and obliquely, events from the DS9 post-series books. Plans for the DS9 books changed a lot after Warpath came out, and some of the 25th-century frame references might not line up exactly with what has happened and what will happen in that series. Authors try to be consistent with what came before, but they are not beholden to do so.

Are people using a chronological order for the Trek series going to look for an Enterprise book in the latest part of the timeline? Probably not, no more than they would watch "These Are the Voyages" after "The Pegasus." The strict non-spoiler people are probably using a production order approach, and the mentions of future events in "These Are the Voyages" and The Good That Men Do are general enough that it won't matter too much to people's enjoyment of TNG and DS9.

tl;dr version: Please put "These Are the Voyages," The Good That Men Do, Kobayashi Maru, and the two Romulan War novels after "Terra Prime" instead of scattering them to the future parts of the order.

Really, the only way to avoid issues like this -- you either make the Enterprise segment confusing or the TNG segment annoying -- would be to go with production or broadcast order as a basis, but since that's obviously not happening, I basically agree with bharbeke.

So list empress as a short story/anthology or a separate book?

Empress, should have its own entry (with the Glass Empires cover for its cover pic). The same goes for The Worst of Both Worlds, which is also in the Glass Empires anthology.

You know how for CMRO, you have "Go to [previous] Issue" and "Go to [next] Issue" for every entry? That'd be very convenient if you added that for Star Trek as well, so that people like me who are only watching the shows can just go to the next episode.
