I just read some of the new Hawkeye mini that came out. Tell me if I am off base.

It seems Hawkeye is out of character in this from how he is normally portrayed. Its clear they were writing him to match up with Renner's performance in the Avengers movie, but that version of the character never felt in line with the cocky, sometimes prickish Hawkeye from the comics.

Even Renner wasn't happy with the Hawkeye in the movie. No character development.
But I think the movie was going for the Ultimate version, more broody than prickish.

Because of how little of Hawkeye we got in the movie that wasn't mind controlled, it's hard to say what they were trying to do with his character lol. Hilariously, the new mini-series may be our best indication of where they want to go with the character in both versions.

Have you all read the minis that led up to this? Perhaps there was some character development you missed? Like this was a direction they were heading?
