I was reading 1602 and 1602: New world and was shocked when the watcher said the universe was 616. later everyone in the series dies and the universe fissions off into it's own sub-universe that uatu carries around with him. anyway I really liked this series although I have a couple of issues, 1: why did uatu force doctor strange to not communicate any of his knowledge while he was alive. that's basically killing him for no reason other than pettiness which does not match uatu's character, 2: I find iron mans look too modern, I feel he should look more primitive. 3: the hulks alter ego is a blindly loyal subject of king james and the hulk is a decent person. in 616 the hulk is a decent guy and so is banner. certainly banner would never torture anyone. what I liked about the series was the art of the fantsatick four and the x-men I also liked the fresh take on the on some of the characters like the angel and the beast, and daredevil, (although hulk being scottish is a bit mind-blowing). The characters in general feel more mature then the mainstream comics. (at least circa 1980). The plot was pretty good too. I wish they had used some lesser known characters that really suit that environment like hawkeye and the swordsman, or union jack, or werewolf by night but I understand why they wanted to stick to the really big names.

I was reading secret avengers earlier, and I noticed that the Continuum police (or whatever) that Captain Britain is part of, they call him and his version of reality (which is the main marvel version of reality) 616...

yeah, that's why I was surprised because if it was 616 then all that stuff happened in 1602 in the main marvel universe, at least up until the end of marvel 1602 and the beginning of 1602: new world.
