Mutation and evolution go hand in hand. That is what I was trying to say.

I also read Beast's wikipedia page and I thought it was pretty unusual for a mutant origin. Now I think that maybe they(writers) just didn't have all the kinks worked out about how they were gonna handle things, but: Hank was born unusual (disproportional hands, feet, smart) due to his dad's having been exposed to radiation. I didn't catch or they didn't say whether he was stronger or more agile than other toddlers.
He was also missing that 'stress moment' during puberty that would seem to trigger x factor/x gene whatever we call it now. Was the whole pubescent stress thing cannon, or was it just how some people manifested? Jean saves her friend from a car wreck, anybody have a better handle on this? I guess I'm fuzzy on actual first use of power type origins right now.
Oh, and this reminds me, is Nightcrawler even a mutant? He's born blue and furry, right? But teleportation doesn't manifest til later. IDK.

maybe Beast was similar to Nightcrawler and some of his powers manifested at birth (Big hands/feet, Possible intellect (if we agree this is part of his mutant powers)) and the others came with puberty (increased strength, agility, stamina, etc.) We are also shown later that Beak and Angel's children were born with mutated features so it is possible that mutants have certain powers or looks upon birth.

Ah, when you bring mutant offspring into it (children of mutant parents), that changes the game. Stands to reason second generation homo superior would be different than these kids who exhibited no genetic anomalies til puberty (standard H superior born to flatscan parents). We need a geneticist on hand for a consult. Get Moira Mactaggert on the phone!

well until we figure that out...

what about the guy who created the formula that created Captain America? He was either pretty smart or just very lucky to have created that formula that no one else can seem to recreate correctly again

Are you accusing Dr Erskine of being a mutant? Cause that's a legit question in general in a world with mutants. Did we talk about this before? Or are you saying Dr E gets to be in the top smarty guys list?

I was just thinking that he was pretty smart if he can create a formula that no one has been able to successfully reproduce since.

You all seem to be forgetting that the Toad Men already answered this question for us way back in Incredible Hulk #2. Using the power of their magnetic grapplers, they "focused on the most brilliant scientific brain on Earth." Namely, one Bruce Banner. Who are we to question the wisdom and technology of the mighty Toad Men?
