Maybe someone further along in the Order can tell me ... around when do Iron Man stories stop using the "I have a finite amount of transistor power" story device? It's understandable why they used it; it keeps Iron Man from being too powerful, and it lends some semblance of realism to an otherwise fantastic character, but it's just so god damn annoying.

It lessens around the 800's, still mentioned but not as big of a factor. At least the "oh my heart" does go away. They also start doing some semi-interesting things with his character development. Still one of my lest liked books, but its not as bad as it was.

At first I loved the kind of interaction and power restraints they put upon Iron Man after his creation, but it's true that, over time, it starts to get wasted. I know some of the later history of Tony, and I'm pretty early in the Order, so I can't wait to watch how the Marvel pose his transitions between stages (anyway, he always has a problem of any sort, thats why I find it so interesting).

Iron Man was always a second stringer until the first Layton/Micheline run in the 110's. His backstory was expanded upon, including his father being called out as an asshole, then the whole drinking thing that the second movie brushed over.

Still, it did have Scarlett Johansson so it wasn't horrific.

I haven't gotten to that part yet. I see it on the horizon though. At least a drinking problem is different then the "oh my heart" story line.

I like him in avengers books, but not so much in his own.

I realized that the Iron Man movie made the right move in having Stark come clean about his identity ... it's not just that the secret identity schtick can get a little tired in general, but in particular, it's very bizarre that he's supposed to be a corporate security guard with a secret identity and a battlesuit that can destroy an army. Smells fishy to me.

I gotta admit I found it came as a big shock when Tony Stark outed his identity like that. It certainly cracked the superhero mold in a way, so I'm curious to see how it plays out in the Avengers movie.

I agree with HolsterJack, Iron Man revealing his identity completely ruined it for me.

I keep hoping they will get rid of the stupid jet powered roller skates. I am 1300 issues into the order and they still make regular appearances. They are just so dumb.

But Travis, I don't think you understand ... with his rollerskates, he doesn't have to worry about traffic jams and flat tires!
