Going to the cinema is kinda not that cool anymore. Even with a big release that I have interest in, I frequently fail to make the time to go. Sherlock Holmes II, I am looking at you. Redbox is a cool resource and Netflix instant queue has been letting me down for months now. They have some decent tv selections, but sometimes the film options make me feel like I'm browsing a Blockbuster that's been having a going out of business sale for a few weeks.

I do a mixture of netflix dvd's and streaming. Getting movies from redbox is easy sure, but i always turn it in late and rack up fees. Netflix, doesn't hurt me when I hold onto a disc for a while. And when there is something I want to see, I can go and send back the disc I have. Plus, no traveling.

Ah, leaving the house. The bane of modern man.

Sometimes movies are just plain better at the cinema. With the advent of 3D, that's becoming less true for me. I've never watched something in 3D and not come out thinking "I wish that wasn't in 3D".

I caught Avengers the other day in 2D, loved it. Is it called "Marvel Avengers Assemble" in the US? It is here in the UK, ridiculous title. Everyone just calls it Avengers anyway.

Sometimes I just know that I have to see a movie at the cinema, and I make it happen. Even if it means going alone. =P No Country for Old Men is probably my favourite movie of all time, and I caught that right at the end of its cinema run. Phew!

Here they call it just The Avengers. Perhaps they were concerned with confusion over the old British show (although that is a really stupid idea). And the 3d isn't half bad in this move. Way less gimmicky and overused as others.

What did you think of the Avengers?

The last movie I went to see in the theater was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I plan on seeing The Avengers tomorrow during the afternoon since there won't be that many people there.

tstarnes, is it worth seeing the movie in 3D? I ask since most 3D affects in movies looks really dumb, and I'm not going to mention the re-release of movies with 3D added in.

The 3D isn't bad, there aren't a bunch of stuff flying out at your or anything. Honestly, you can go without it and be just as good. It isn't overly annoying, but doesn't add much.

I saw The Avengers in 3D, and was glad I did. Starnes is right, no cheap 3D gimmicks. I felt it was more like Avatar, kinda added some good depth.

I finally got around to watching Captain America in preparation for The Avengers (hopefully next weekend). There's something I wish I hadn't done. Man that film was bad.
