After the Avengers, would you rather see another build up of Iron Man/Cap/Thor movies, or just have them get on into Avengers 2?

Do you like that cycle of solo - group - solo -group they seem to be setting up?

I like the current setup ... I think it's part of what made Avengers work; parts of the story were already introduced in other movies so there wasn't the need for as much exposition as otherwise. I'd be happy with something like -

Iron Man 3
Thor 2
Cap 2
[new movie]
[new movie]
Avengers 2

If I had my fanboy way, this cycle would continue forever and we'd eventually get all the major (and a lot of the minor!) characters into the cinematic universe. When the licenses revert to Marvel, characters like Spider-Man and DD and the X-Men can be introduced any time, because they're more introverted so if they seem like outsiders or newcomers it doesn't matter so much, even though in the 616 canon they've been around as long as anybody else. But for the FF, I feel their role as major players in the fraternity of superheroes is integral to their identity, so my proposal is this: FF movie #1 is the origin story, and it takes place around the same time as Iron Man 1 or 2. It ends on a cliffhanger with the characters going into the negative zone. FF movie #2 has their adventures in the negative zone and they come out of the zone but are lost in space on the other side of the universe from Earth. Their meddling alerts Silver Surfer and Galactus to Earth's presence and they race Galactus back to Earth and stop him on Earth. This movie would tie the FF in with a Guardians of the Galaxy movie that would ideally come out around the same time, and when they get to Earth, Galactus in tow, they'd become acquainted with SHIELD and thus the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Anyway, that's my fantasy. I know it won't happen, you don't have to rub it in.

The real question is if they will try to maintain this continuity indefinitely. It might be tough to keep it going much longer than A2 because actors will likely move on to other things. Obviously they recast Hulk but would they be willing to cycle different actors through the other key rolls without rebooting?

Realistically no, you're right, they'll probably be rebooting by Avengers 3 at the latest.

But dammit, I would keep paying my $12 for tickets and buy the blurays if they kept the magic going forever!

I would say Downey is the lynch pin. If he goes, it would hurt the rest of the cast.

You think they could build up enough steam to adopt the solo movies into team movie gimmick for X-Men at some point? Pretty hard to get enough good production combos (actors/director/script), but a guy can dream can't he? And non-wolverine x-men prbly don't have the draw to sell tickets, but Iron Man was a bit of a flier before it came out, even with RDJ attached. We tend to forget that in light of its success. Get a big name/good actor to play the roles, catch lightning in a bottle with a good production team and who knows?

Deadpool.

Not sure if you could move it across to film successfully, but if someone could make it right I would pay them all the money to see it.

I kind of like the way zweineuf is thinking here. I like some build up to a movie, but I think I would hate it if they just stuck with straight new flicks. Part of what I liked about this current setup is not having unrealistic expectations, so far everything we have seen we loved. Whoever thought out the strat for these is patting themselves on the back daily, amazing plan.

If Iron Man 3 and Cap 2 are going to be as bad as their predecessors, let's just skip ahead to Avengers 2.
I appreciate getting these character's origins out of the way for Avengers, but I don't see the need for Cap 2. I would watch IM3 for sure, but IM2 was a use once and destroy movie so I'd hope they'd improve.
Thor 2 could be great if they do an epic Ragnarok kind of story, but stay the hell off earth.

I agree about RDJ though- the Avengers franchise rises and falls with him. He was the best thing about Avengers.

Couldn't disagree more with the iron am 2 thing. I thought it was a quality movie.

I have hopes for cap2 now that it isn't hardened with his origin story, which is tough to pull off.

Also a new rufallo hulk I would look forward to.
