I think they need to hold off on Avengers 2 and go with solo's for a bit. I'm all for a new Hulk! I would pay $12 for a ticket to see Deadpool too - that would be so cool. I wonder how they would do that. Not real big on Thor but the kids are so another Thor would be okay too.

That wouldn't exactly be difficult.

Not sure how anyone can dislike iron man 2, but frankly anything with rdj in it is worth the price of admission (Im sure someone here will find something crap that he's done to prove me wrong.)

I think it's pretty nailed on that they are doing iron man 3 and Thor 2 at least before the avengers 2. And it makes sense to me. I'm not big on this film 3 at a time and then release one each year. Worked for Lord of the rings, but that was the first one to do it, and they had good reason to do so, but the back to back pirates films just ran one into the other and it's just lazy film making to make one long film and split it into two, rather than have films and sequels that are complete films in their own right.

Fairly good rumour had it that rdj and evans and hemmingworth all have 6 picture deals and Jackson has a 9 picture deal, but god knows if that includes the 30 second end credits bits or not.

So my bet is at least 2 films, possibly 5 before the next avengers film. (IM3, Thor and cap2, hulk 2/3 and possibly a shield film with Thor and cap 3 + another couple before avengers 3 in about 6 years time)

If you like RDJ check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Him and Kilmer are amazing in it.

RE: the 6 picture deal / 9 picture deal stuff, I'm pretty sure that they work that into the contract so that the studio can have the actor if they decide to make those movies, but they're not committing to make those movies. I heard it reported that Cobie Smulders (the actress who plays Maria Hill) also got a 9 picture deal, but once again, that doesn't oblige Marvel to make 9 movies with her, it just means they can ask her to be in up to 9 movies and she is obliged to move her schedule around within reason to accommodate them.

When it gets down to the contract for a specific movie, big actors or directors will often have a "pay or play" contract, wherein they get paid regardless of whether or not the film goes to market or even gets made. But this (for obvious reasons) isn't usually done for these larger, more overarching contracts.

That's pretty much how it works. You make an x picture deal with actor y, they're obliged to be in x number of pictures for you. Doesn't matter what they are, or if they're any good, they have to do them even if they have better offers on the table. This is why Halle Berry actually turned up to accept the Razzie for Worst Actress in Catwoman. She thought the script was dumb, she didn't want to do it, but she was under an x number of movies deal with the studio so she had to.

Fair enough, didn't realise it was a one way street like that. I just though berry turned up at the razzies because she was a no-talent hack who craves attention and enjoys being really god awful in superhero films.

I still thnk they will make those other films before the next avengers one. Until the other franchises revert to them they are pretty much stuck with this group of chracters and financially it wouldn't make any sense to blow their entire cash cow by skipping the individual films and rushing through the team ups.

Realistically they have been talking about 2-3 films a year maximum (probably all the studio can handle considering the cross over of staff and cast...). So with this group of characters what have they got left before it gets stale for the general public (I say general public because I'd pay to see captain America 33 and avengers 57!).

Iron man 3 possibly 4
Captain America 2 possibly 3
Thor 2 and 3
Avengers 2 and 3
Another hulk? Ruffalo deserves it
+ maybe a widow, shield, fury film (less likely if captain America is more of cap+ shield as hinted by some sources)

Thor and cap were the biggest two non sequel grossing films last year, people forget that they were successful in their own right, just pales in comparison to rdj's draw and the team up that is the avengers. But marketed right (something Disney always does, if you ignore mr carter from mars...) their sequels should get a massive boost from the avengers and I wouldn't be surprised if they both passed the 1/2billion mark (cap will always suffer outside America with some anti American sentiment, they're best sticking to the 'first avenger' tag.)
