Do you feel the comic book industry puts too many false or negative expectations on love? Personally, I think they get it better than most movies out there.

depends on the time period we are talking about. In early 60's, only 2 relationships were done right (Reed & Sue and Pym & Wasp), all the other relationships were ridiculous.

Also, characters "fall in love" at the drop of a hat. Jean Grey walks up to the school for the first time, and all the male characters have thought bubbles declaring their love, including Professor X.

Depends as always on the sophistication of the writers. I think they had some really stunted dudes back in the early days. They could do a good Peter Parker, cause he was a lonely nerd. And starnes, please elab: Reed/Sue and Hank/Jan, is there a point where their relationships become 'good' or better? I keep going back to their, shut up you distracting woman bits.

Once he heads out to college, Peters relationships get very interesting. I like the way they write him and Gwyn...its a very believable relationship.

And yes, the way they treat their women in the early books is insane, but them being together is believable.

There is way too much intermingling with comic relationships. Only a few of the relationships have been solid and even their love has been tested. I will say they usually get the guys right in their reaction to women, like Wolverine and Cyclops.

HQuinn, are you writing a term paper for female media studies or something?
