Any educated guesses (or wild speculation) on who it'll be?

This isn't the first openly gay character....I don't think.

EDIT: Ok, after reading the story they mention that Northstar was the first openly gay.

In today's world, is this newsworthy?

I think so. I a world where kids are still killing themselves because of the bigotry of those around them having an "iconic" (as they put it) character come out could do some good.

Yea, I see that. I more meant, there is already a lot of at least the first three parts of the LGBT community represented in popular culture, so I was questioning whether this was as landmark as it seemed. Now, if they had a trans character I would have been like, wow, that is a bold step.

I think its good more variety in characters are being shown, sort of how african-american characters started getting play in the 70's, and comics is behind TV in a big way in this, but I guess I was like gay characters in popular media is no big deal, for me at least I accept it as a character choice and not a social statement any more.

While there has been overtones to be sure, I am not sure he counts, since he wasn't a started gay character. Not like Northstar.

Oh I meant robin as the suggestion of who was going to come out as gay,I can't see any of the others fitting the bill, heck lots of dc characters aren't actually human, so if they came out as gay it wouldn't be quite the same.

Either that or it's someone rather obscure that they claim is well established.

I just take issue of the phrasing of 'major' or 'established'. This is totally going to be a bait and switch. Someone minor like Katana from Outsiders. Or Halo from the same team. It'll be someone minor that non-fans have never heard of.

A Robin would be an intetesting choice if they'd treat being young and all the extra issues coming to terms with orientation as a major angle. Odds it's a woman are high to me. Isn't Batwoman a lesbian now?
