I'm only getting technical with you because I know you love it, but in the Avengers movie, they did reference Hulk's fight with Abomination, they said something to the effect that he tore up Harlem. They didn't specifically say Abomination, but that was what they were talking about. And the gamma dobermans were from the Ang Lee Hulk, which I think you know was never intended to be part of the same universe as the Norton/Ruffalo Hulks.

But in general, I agree with you. It's not just that audience attention spans are short ... these movies come out years apart. Someone who was 16 years old when Avengers came out was 7 years old when the Ang Lee Hulk movie came out, and probably never saw it. All they know about it is the bad word of mouth it got, if they know anything about it at all.

Further down the technical rabbit hole, the Norton movie reference the Ang Lee version, so, they are kind of chained together.

Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?

The details of Hulk's origin experiment were wholly different, as were, more importantly, the purposes behind Banner's research. I thought it was very clear that they weren't supposed to be the same universe. Maybe it's just because I haven't watched the Ang Lee movie recently, what did I miss?
