As a comic fan, have you ever thought of creating your own comics? Have you even tried it? I think it would be great to create my own comics and get them published.

Creating something that is professional is hard. My brother has been working on self publishing a comic for a while, and its a money pit.

Agreed tstarnes. It's a nice thought though. There are online companies that will help with this sort of thing but there is a fee for that help. There's always a fee. Tell you brother not to give up.

Ever think about e-comics? Just scanning them in and creating a zip/rar file from them.

I think it's not a bad idea. Creating comics is not for everyone but if you think you are creative enough for that, there is nothing wrong with trying it. Yes fees will apply everywhere, but it should not stop you from pursuing your dream, so to speak.

Well, if I could draw at all, that would probably help, but since I can't, I guess I'm out of the running. :D

I can't even imagine how much it would cost to publish a professional-looking comic book.

It must cost a lot of money, but I think you can start with a digital comic instead of the hard printed one. I saw many digital comics sold on the net.

Most of the costs for creating are the same for digital and physical, you still have the same costs for artist (if you can't write but don't draw), writer (if you draw but don't write), Inker, and colorist. Only difference is in the distribution costs.

I initially went into college majoring in art hoping that I could somehow learn the art of comic making. I have written many stories, and drawn a ton of illustrations but I have yet to actually get anything done.

I wish I could draw. Comics are unlike any other medium for storytelling.
