Just read the Punisher's first appearance. I've been reading the marvel comics for three years now and I'm just about done 1974. I've kept a tally for the past two years, and I read at a pace of 550-650 marvel comics a year. I'm going for 700 this year. I can't wait to hit the 1980's.

Was it the Amazing Spider-Man Appearance or his first solo appearance. I really dug his first solo appearance.

Having been born in the UK in 1966, I was first introduced to Marvel comics by a weekly reprint title called The Mighty World of Marvel, which started in 1972. This reprinted early Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil and Fantastic Four. Later Spidey got his own comic, as did the Avengers and others. I therefore grew up with these comics and having reread about the first 100 in the order, it's like meeting old friends again. Of course some of the plots etc now look silly to my adult eyes, but it still brings back memories. I gave up collecting comics about 20 years ago for financial reasons, so I have got quite a wide knowledge of the Marvel Universe at least up to the 90s though there were lots of gaps. I guess what I'm trying to say is that these first 300 for me won't be difficult at all and I'm just looking forward to filling in the gaps in my knowledge along the way

Okay, so I'm now at exactly 100 in the list. So far so good. Hats off to Travis and everyone else who's put this together. If I was being ultra picky, there's a couple of changes I'd make, but nothing I can't live with:

1) Ant Man's 1st appearance - but I'm not getting into that again
2) FF 13 & 14 follow straight on from one another, (but the main storylines in each don't), so possibly they should be together in the list.

I know its been said before that the first few hundred are pretty fixed and as I say these are only minor OCD quibbles. I think 98% - 99% "correct" is pretty good, so I'll let you off. LOL.

Just started reading the order two days ago. Skipping the Strange Tales stuff for now. Every so often I skip ahead to the 70's so I can read something that isn't boring. I'm also in the middle of reading through the Ultimate Universe so I probably won't get to but like the 200th issue or so before school starts then I'll be down to like an issue a day.

Once you get into the late 60s it gets much more readable. Make sure you pick Strange Tales back up around 135. The Sheild stuff is much better then the Torch stories, and there are some important events with Hydra and AIM.

Just hit a personal milestone Giant-Size X-Men #1. This is a big landmark issue for me.

Yeah I'm looking forward to the Shield stuff. Congrats on reaching Giant X-men #1. I should be there in about a year or so.

Was reading a Chronological X-Men list, but I am about to revert and start on this. After seeing Avengers, I really want to read some of their stories too. Will be starting the order hopefully this weekend :)

Also, people were talking about how horrid Stan's writing was - couldn't agree more. I understand it was a different era, but wow. I respect Stan for his creations, but I was pretty thankful when he stopped writing the X-Men!
