I have messed with cbr readers on my android phone, and the port of comic zeal is the best, so its a wash. The only big benefit I know of is if you need flash for say the MDCU.

That's what I've been using.

Who said they got an Android tablet? What is the process of reading a cbr on there like?
Is it at all a reasonable idea to consider moving from iPad to an Android tablet?

That was me. I'm using an app called perfect viewer and it works great with cbr files. I've had a really easy time reading so far. I don't know if it would be worth switching cause I haven't used an ipad. I chose this droid tablet cause it was a couple hundred bucks cheaper then an ipad and im mainly using it for comics. If you don't have a tablet yet though then I can't recommend it enough.

I wonder if the trade-in on an iPad 1 is enough to pay for a fancy new Android.
How much is yours with the 10.5 (does that seem BIG?)? If you don't mind my asking of course.

(who needs research?)

Wow, this thread is now pretty well off topic. Anyway, I just joined & will chime in here on where I am so far reading the MDCU.

I have not actually used "The Order" for my MU readings so far. I have been reading around one comic a day since Dec 31st, 2009. I used the Marvel Masterworks timeline to create an excel doc to log my reading & to order & keep track because the MDCU does not offer this functionality to my knowledge. I have read 838 Silver Age books (in order) so far & I will finish the Silver Age before the end of the year for sure. I may try to align my reading with "The Order", although that may be a distraction that would interfere with my reading aims....I'll look into it.

It seems like I review comics differently to many forum posters & reviewers: I read the story & enjoy the art; then afterwards I flip thru the book again & rate the art & consider the possible office politics at the time & consider the story to art balance. I prefer focusing upon following publication release & obsessively read only in order...which order? Clearly that is the conundrum which was the impetus for Mr. Starnes to create this site. My new-releases reading has suffered from my reading in order.

I am currently about to read FF #89 from Aug 1969.

Originally, like others here, I was going to skip books I don't really care for in my modern day reading: FF, Thor, DD, Spider-Man, Sub-Mariner (modern!?). In fact I have stuck to my guns & read every book in order. I am interested in feeling what it might have been like reading these comics as they were published like when I was buying book from the comic shop. I am thoroughly enjoying it & am really glad I decided to read all the books. Chic Stone's work on Thor is mesmerizing, I concur that reading all DD books is masochistic. It is clear that Spider-Man & FF are the flagships from this era. No one can draw girls like John Romita Snr, not to mention everything else you get from Spider-Man. FF books are easily the highest rated books in my reading & I am by no means a fan of FF. Joel Sinnot's work is simply unmatched for the time, but Kirby couldn't draw girls! But the backgrounds!!! Are Awesome. & not that comics is all about how artists draw girls...Jim Steranko's boundry decimation is purely inspirational. Actually, I wish there were more Sgt. Fury & His Howlin' Commandos scanned on MDCU. I wasn't really a guy interested in war stories until I turned 45 which I hear is quite a usual condition....maybe moreso for me because I am American living mainly in France. I have just gotten to Neal Adams' work in X-Men & wow! These could have been published in the '90s!

As always, I have over-pontificated again.

Thanks, Mr. Starnes for the Order, it is great to know there a bunch of Marvel geeks like me out there!

I just read the galactus arc in ff and the destiny arc in asm and thought "boy, now they are picking up steam" and was brought directly down again by that horrible arc of dd + ka-zar. Meh.

Does dd get better anytime soon? I was expecting so much from that book and am bored to death by every issue since the first.

Yea, that Adams run on X-men was way ahead of its time. Its sad it was so short, with the series ending just as he took over the art. It is decades till you get an run of art like that again.

Unfortunately, no. Actually, from where you are, DD gets worse. Around issues 80 or so it starts to get better (when he teams up with the Black Widow), but it doesnt get "good" until the early 80s when Miller took over.
