Can we dish on this? DiDio and Lee are making a lot of noise about 'lapsed readers' and 'shrinking markets'. So they reboot and, something comics have to do periodically, but you must be careful, they're making it 'relevant' and 'sexy' for a new generation of readers. This scares me a little. Getting off main point. Amid all this talk about reboots and shrinking markets, I haven't heard anything about a price drop. Comics are pricey, and times are tough for a lot of people. Wouldn't it be great if comics would be the one medium to be realistic in economic turmoil and try to find a way to give their customers a real reason to buy the product?

Not just that Reed, but also reasonable prices for the digital product. From marvel it costs 3.99 and 4.99 for a digital issue. This is something that has no printing, shipping, or retail costs associated with it. There should be a price drop for the digital product.

Agreed. Media companies have been very unrealistic to try to charge the same for digital products that in some cases you have a limited license for.

It does suck that some of the larger number titles are going back to 1, but I can take it if the stories are good. Flashpoint has been stellar in leading up, minis and all (which feature most of the new creative teams). Also, this isn't an entirely new idea, it was the original plan post Crisis but they ultimately decided against it.

Of course their sales went up with the relaunch.

Right. We talked about this in another thread but, wake when they can't keep number 8s on the shelves.

I was quite excited about the new 52. Haven't read comic books in years (few exceptions: The Walking Dead, Invincible and several graphic novels), soI thought it's a great addition to reading Marvel form the very beginning. But after reading JLA, Action Comics, Batman and Flash #1 I don't get where the reboot is supposed to be. No single origin-story and many sidekicks I'm supposed to know their backgrounds (e.g. the Robins in Batman #1). I thought it's meant to be for new readers but I think it's rather confusing...probably even for old readers.

Don't know if I stick to that line-up. Love the artwork in Flash #1, so that's one series I'll follow for sure.

I think everyone calling it a reboot is wrong. Everything I have seen it is a relaunch, not a reboot.
