Outside of comics, what kind of books does everyone like to read?

I read lots of classics. I like to just pick up a book I've heard of and not read and just give it a try.
My favorites are Twain and Steinbeck. My favorite book is Catch-22
I also really enjoy the work of Michael Crichton.

Outside of all of that I have a weakness for spy stories and stories about con men and/or heists.

Catch-22 is a good book, although for me the best of classics is some Ray Bradbury. And Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is one of the first books that I remember liking.

And love me some spy thrillers, Le Care and Flynn are my favorites there. Reading any good series? I am always looking for something new in the spy/thriller area/

Yea, I also read all the Dragonlance books when I was young. I tried to revisit them a few years ago, and they don't hold up to time very well. Or at least my memory of how good they were.

The only spy series I've encountered is the Bourne series and, honestly, I think I like the movies more. I couldn't get past the idea that he is 50 if not 60 years old at some point in the novels.

I recently read American Assassin and it was fantastic. It was almost like an origin to the Bourne books except that it wasn't. But it was cool to get a view of an assassin from day one.

If that's Vince Flynn's American Assassin, then I highly suggest you go back and read the remainder of that series. Its the 11th in a group of books, and the early 3 are very good spy fiction.

For old school cold war spy fiction, read the Smiley books like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy or Smiley's People. Fantastic, but not action packed.

Also if you find you like the Flynn series, read the John Wells series...also about a guy in the CIA.

Wow. I will totally do that. I had no idea, the book had just been litterally just been placed in my hand. I hadn't any idea it was part of a series.
That's the best news I've gotten since I turned 30!

7. Act of treason
8. Protect and Defend
