Christian Bale - the Machinist, the Prestige (not the biggest role, but played it to a t), Reign of Fire and 3:10 to Yuma were all stirling performances, the Machinist being very performance centred imo.

Tom Hanks - Charlie Wilson's War, The Terminal, Cast Away, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, The 'burbs.

Robin Williams - Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire, Death to Smoochy (this might not be well known, but very much worth a watch), One Hour Photo, Patch Adams, Jumanji, Hook, supposedly Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting (Haven't seen either).


As far as Tom Hanks and Robin Williams go, I just find them annoying. They can act well, but I hate them so much it always ruins the movie for me.

Christian Bale, yeah, I've seen two of those films you listed (The Machinist and 3:10 to Yuma). Both great films, but Christian Bale's performance didn't really stand out. Like I said before, he's pretty good at playing sort of brooding introverts. Which he pretty much is in both of those movies. When it comes to conveying any sort of real emotion, I haven't really seen anything of his that worked for me in this regard. That's why I think he works well as characters which don't really display genuine emotion, like Batman, the Machinist, American Psycho (Especially this, he was perfect for this movie. You really get the impression that the character's entire life is a facade from the way Bale acts... but maybe that's just because he's not acting very well if that makes sense).

Heh, I didn't even mention American Psycho because it was exactly as you said - he's acting as if he's acting out a part, and that's what he's supposed to be doing, but it's strange because of it. The Machinist was insane though, the amount of weight he lost for filming, etc.

Still, for the first two, I don't understand the hate - did they kill your puppy in a double team grandslam? :lol:

However, if you dislike Robin Williams, Death to Smoochy is the perfect film for you - he plays a foul mouthed drug-using Children's Show presenter, but he isn't the main character. Sappy ending, slightly ridiculous throughout, but well worth the watch imo

So apparently his run on Avengers is coming to an end...he announced he will be leaving the title.

So he is apparently writing a "how to write comic books" book, to come out in 2013. Curios what this will look like. I may think the guy is a tool, but he does know how to write books that sell.
