What would be interesting/useful could be a forums/site part which could cover event reading lists (user submitted and to be updated after discussion if needs be). For example, I was looking for a World War Hulk event reading order, and everything online was just the release date order, or someone had tried to put them in a correct order but were just plain wrong.

So I skimmed through them all and made my own order which I feel is accurate and breaks a few of the books into two - which is something the List can't do (without a lot more effort).

Similarly, I know many lists often split books into several different parts to make more sense (but also more effort)

Whatcha reckon?

Wouldn't this happen as part of the main order anyway? If so, then wouldn't it appear also as a self contained unit in the story arcs section?

It will be, and then it will be part of the story arc order as well. When we get to world war hulk there will be a story arc for it and we will get the whole reading order of it sorted out.

Yeah, I get that, but I didn't think you intended to split issues into parts in the full list.

#41. Incredible Hulk Vol 2 #111 - (Page 4 to end) - Zombot up until sentry fight
#42. World War Hulk Front Line #06.cbr

There are probably a few other parts that could be split to fit slightly better as it was somewhat of a rush job. - I have reasons for placement of everything too of course, not just those short descriptions.
I don't know if the older Events had the same amount of jumping around - could be less or more.

If you intend to add something like this on to the story arc page, that's absolutely practical too.

I'm not saying this is definitely the case with WWH, but don't you think that some of these things are done for dramatic reasons. Like that fight with Iron Man in World War Hulk 1, it may not be perfectly in order but maybe the surprise and confusion is intended to pique your interest in the rest of the stories that build up to that moment. Storytelling doesn't have to be strictly linear.

A good point, but one rendered slightly less relevant on this kind of site ;)

It would be there for those who want to utilize it, not forcing anyone to. And in my opinion it does read better in this case (WWH). (and already I've noticed a couple of books that could be split again to make more sense.)

Still, I'm fine creating my own read lists, was just wondering what the rest of you guys thought of it

YEa, I would definitly not split an individual issue. No one really reads comics that way. If you were to read your way through world war hulk, I am not sure the best way would be to jump back and forth between issues....

I do like Green Flame's point....that also breaks the writers original intentions.

I confess, I do like to read comics that way - when I have the time to figure it out. I've seen some lists for the Ultimate Universe that, as I mentioned, split books up into separate panels at times - that is clearly too far. It can get to the point of ridiculousness, but I wouldn't be opposed to half a book here and half a book at a later point if it's very clear that there is a time jump.

It's hard to know where the line is, I mean, with that first World War Hulk Issue, there are 11 full issues and large parts of 2 others which happen during it (9 of which directly feature the Hulk doing things in that time frame.) and reading that comic in two parts then makes all 14 flow perfectly.

But I suppose that is just for certain people to mildly obsess over, and I'll do my thing as one of them.

To conclude, tis fine by me, just wondered what you guys thought of the idea. (Not incorporating it into The List, just making it available somewhere, much like it is elsewhere on the net. On that note though, they are elsewhere, so it's not a huge deal)

Sure, I think it isn't a bad idea to incorporate a "straight chronological" order also, if people want it. Although the scope of that makes it a "in the future" kind of thing.

Till then, here in the forums is a good place to put that kind of thing up.

To be perfectly straight, I was thinking it was more of a thing for the user-base to work at than yourself, you already have a lot of stuff on your plate.

The main thing is that if books don't need split, the The List will cover them and you could post it straight up without any worries. So, after reading through the event using The List, or - if it's one not yet featured - try and sort the event order by themselves, splitting books when appropriate. Post it up, debate it and finally settle on one that suits most people.

I have no idea what kind of task that is for other events as I've merely used the Marvel wikia for most so far and, when they bother to, they list the books without any splitting. I've looked at a few user submitted ones from other sites as well (I figure these will have to be amended when I come to them). WWH had no accurate ones 3 pages into google, yet only needed a few books split to work along a perfect timeline. (took me maybe an hour and a bit and I haven't actually read the event in full or the ones on either end, so I know it needs a couple more tweaks to be perfect)

As a side effect, I'd anticipate you getting more site hits if you featured event orders. When looking for a WWH read list, this site popped up on google even without one - due to the World War Hulk review coupled with the CMRO title :P
Not sure if you get anything for increased hits, but it can't be a bad thing, right?

Jeez, I really do type run-on sentences at times.
