I read horror and action books mainly. I love the hunger games! I like books that have lot's of action, and fantasy too! I also kind of like thrillers if they're fast paced and not too boring. Stories about general life bore me however.

Mainly sci-fi, a bit of fantasy here and there. Currently working my was through all of the Discworld novels (on about number 12 I think) and the entire works of H.P Lovecraft (which I got off the Kindle store for £0.69 :D). Throwing a few books with spaceships in between them as well, or I'd go into withdrawal.

Discworld was pretty good. Not sure if you have read it, but if you are looking for the best Pratchett work, check out Good Omens.

Love mysteries. The prey series is amazing. So is the Jack Reacher series.

I've not been reading many books lately, but can easily say that The Hobbit and LOTR, in this order are a MUST! Lotr I've read twice and would do it again, maybe some years in the future. The first time I was on a deep depression in my late teenages and the pace as it goes on, travelling in such dark places, all the dunger, but finding joyful stopovers, with all kinds of good food and music singing, amazing!! But the best book I've ever read is Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, by Dee Brown, there may be some criticism about it, but it's great, brazilian tribes hadn't any chances of leaving any version of their history! Bukowski is very good but sometimes gets sickening after some child rapes and so on.

Time and the Wind, by Erico Veríssimo is a historical fiction set in the region I was born, so it's very meaningful for me, it is a great book, but it's hard to tell if well translated.

I would also mention Woody Allen's tales, as they are very funny, have you tried the hystory of the sandwitch? http://amkon.net/showthread.php/34058-History-of-the-Sandwich-Woody-Allen

That said I'm gonna make me one

The Hobbit is a great book, but I really don't like LOTR. Thought it was great when my dad read it to me when I was a kid, then tried to read it myself and realised he must have skipped huge chunks of it. Great core story and characters, but one of the worst books I have ever slogged my way through.

I agree Xythe. I read or tried to read both many years ago. Loved the Hobbit but just could not get into LOTR. Similarly thought films were over rated as well!

I don't feel like checking to see if I said this already, but Catch-22 has to be my favorite piece of literature ever.
after that I really enjoy Mark Twain's writing and a lot of Steinbeck.

I've read LOTR but was pretty "meh." about it. felt the same way about the movies.... They are amazingly well made, but I watched all three in a day maybe six years ago and feel like I never need to see anything LOTR related again.

I get that. I did the same thing, and then a year later tried to watch them all again, and about half way through the first movie I just didn't want to watch it.

Twain, freaking love his books. Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is one of my all time favorites.
