Issue Review

Enjoyable story with plenty of action.
We open with a lengthy and brutal battle.
This is followed by the start of the real story when an injured Ka-Zar is taken to a hidden city.
All these cities that are unknown to Ka-Zar may stretch credibility a bit but they ensure we are always being told fresh stories in the series. Usually peopled with interesting characters.
Ka-Zar's character shines here. His comments on the ways/customs/rituals of the city folk are witty and provoke frequent chuckles.
We end with another ferocious battle, this one integral to the story-in-progress.

Wow, someone doesn't like the Bhudda!

"I demand a blood sacrifice... That is, unless you rub bhudda's belly. Come on, you know you want to. It's that, or your son dies. Aaahhhh, yeah, that's the spot..."

The Savage Land sure has a lot of different societies tucked away in it.

You know, for the "Lord of the Savage Land" this is the second group of people in as many issues that has no idea who Ka-Zar is.
Extra star for Ka-Zar basically saying "If you're ugly, you're ugly. All you have inside is cheeseburgers." Such a terrible message but so funny and unexpected.
Otherwise... yeah, it's a standard Ka-Zar story. Kill a beast. Meet new people. Civilization bad.

This is a decent Ka-Zar story. But it is still a Ka-Zar story.

Yep, typical Ka-Zar story. Seems like Zabu's been getting himself hurt quite a bit in this volume of stories. Poor guy. At least so far a few bandages and some kitty treats and he's back in fighting shape.

If that buddha-like god was more into justice and upholding the laws, why not punish the one who brought Ka-Zar into the city in the first place? Illyana? That might've made the readership cry foul over placing blame on a woman, but justice is justice. I'm not making a lot of sense of this story so far.

2 stars. Odds are, that Sylitha character is behind that statue's "speech." Maybe I'm wrong.
