How much info can be on that little tablet that it contains great secrets from the past?
In the middle of a pitched battle, rather than jockey for a postion of strength, Spidey stops to put his shirt on.

How do they even know the tablet has valuable information on it? Maybe it's just a Babylonian shopping list.

The tablet really contains a recipe for beer bread. Just wait until they all find out...

"The Door to my vault requires no lock which some petty thief can one day open. Only The Kingpin's naked strength can accomplish such a feat!"
or Spiderman's strength
or Thor's strength
or Rhino's strength
or Hulk's strength
or almost every other super powered Tom Dick and Harry's strength.

The scene where Kingpin freaks out at the guy for mentioning his wife was actually pretty intense.

3 stars for the Kingpin getting the last laugh!!!

Cover Me - By looking at the cover, the title of the story should be the other way around...

Fat Shaming - I don't know why, but I love it when Spidey calls Kingpin fatso, tubby, etc....

Old Time Remedy - I think the Kingpin is hoping that the tablet has a cure for baldness!!!

Laid An Egg - Yikes, those protesters need a better chant!!

Rageaholic - @Johnny Darkness: Forget the Kingpin, how about Gwen going postal!?

Creepy - For some reason a shirtless Spidey freaks me out!!

?Question? - Can Spidey get stuck to his webbing like that??

Ding Dong - I knew it! The Kingpin's vault is full of...Twinkies!!!

'Nuff Said - "Have to keep rubbing it...make the blood circulate!"-Sinful Spidey

That ancient tablet is the weirdest thing for this arc to be about. I mean, why does Kingpin want it? It's unique so he's not going to be able to sell it, surely it's easier for him to go after other things. Things that hopefully let Spidey keep his shirt on!

  Russ Says:

It's always fun to see Spidey and Kingpin fight. None of them pull any punches and just cut loose against each other! I found it interesting that John Romita and Jim Mooney spent little time on detailing Spidey's shirtless form; it emphasizes the fact that Peter is still something of a scrawny kid despite his spider-strength. But taking the time from the fight to put his shirt back on? The sheer audacity of that little act must've PO'd the Kingpin even more!

Maybe that tablet contains the ancient formula for what we now know as, the little blue pill! No wonder older guys are so interested in it (and probably some ladies too)!

And, after the Kingpin raging about it to the poor underling, "it's time for tea and 'Meet the Wife'", wouldn't you all agree?

4 stars. Pretty intense issue with an intriguing cliffhanger. I don't think that Spidey will cross that line, but I'm sure it had the reader's attention when first published.

Great issue! An all-out brawl between Kingpin and Spidey, with a lot of great action and excitement. I do find it interesting to read the racial sub-plot with today's eyes.

And just last issue I was so happy for Peter and Gwen... with this issue Stan sows the seeds of doubt about how Gwen feels about him.

As much as I love Jim Mooney's take on John Romita's storyboards, I do see one difference. It's all in the hands. Mooney's hands tend to be pretty standard comic-book hands... either close-gripped or open. Romita's hands tend to be "posed" and unique-looking.

Regardless, I love how both artists draw the Kingpin's giant ham-fists... but where in the world did the cops get handcuffs that would fit the guy?? Must be army surplus from General Ross' personal stash of Hulk-busting paraphernalia.

Your pick for 'Nuff Said is made even funnier by the use of "Ding Dong" for the previous category. Double entendre or happy accident? Either way, we all win!

Bad guys riddling super-hero outifts worn by dummies was definitely flavour of the month. One for those also reading Captain America in the order right now!

Or a reasonably long crow bar. Or a floor jack. Or a winch/pulley, or like 2 or 3 less strong guys...

This one was more intense than the previous issue and Stan's writing is more than a bit deeper.

On the other hand...now that it's Spidey against the World, is he: a) going to fill in the Grand Canyon, b) cut off Florida and let it float away, c) give the Yancy Street Gang the Thing's private P.O. Box address?

Not a fan of the cringey political dialogue, hope that passes very soon.

The Kingpin has been showing up far too often lately, unfortunately every plot/fight with him is the same. He gets the upper hand on Spidey, after talking about killing him for the entire issue and claims himself the victor without ever going for the death blow.

I did really like the scene where he beat the guy up for mentioning his wife and it has me intrigued to dive a little deeper into his backstory in the future!
