I agree, Quicksilver was irrelevant. What kept this story interesting was all of the continuing threads from Peter's life.

I'd say that Quicksilver fulfills his purpose in this issue though, as he creates a credible threat and complication for Spidey, but lets the majority of the issue be about the ongoing plot threads. If it was a true baddie you have to spend more time finding out about his scheme, and all that noise.

This is the first meh issue of Spider-Man in quite a while.

What a pointless digression. Quicksilver had no business in this issue.

I like how the photos Peter Parker gives to Robertson show the impacts of punches graphically.

2 stars for Quicksilver grinding the story down to a halt!!!

Cover Me - Great image of Quicksilver playing tag with Spidey!

Birthday Suit - I think Peter could've been in full costume, and Harry still wouldn't of noticed!!!

Mutie Lover - I think this is the best Scarlet Witch rendering yet!!!

Rip Off - Weak, Quicksilver using a Whirlwind move!

Sins Of The Father - You'd think John would've known better to check the paper before giving it to his Dad...

'Nuff Said - "Have no fear...Spidey's here!"-Super Spidey

Poor Quicksilver, he gets to look better in a book where he's basically a throwaway villain than he does in any of the books he's actually been an important character in. Most of the time he's just been pretty useless.

I didn't think this was that bad an issue. It did, as other commenters pointed out, seem to progress the overall story, even if it didn't actually feature a bad guy to fight. If anything, this was a filler issue, similar to Medusa's guest starring role in issue #62, and we could always use an occasional break from the action, can't we?

JJJ's reaction to his own newspaper vindicating Spidey from the tablet theft....that was worth the price of admission alone! Joe Robertson's new approach to dealing with his boss should be: duck and cover!

I liked the fight between Spidey and Quicksilver. It was rendered pretty decent considering that both characters use both action and speed, and that's hard to convey within single panels. Also, John Romita can sure draw a lovely female, and I second @Locust75's comment about his version of the Scarlet Witch! Wonder what she's doing next Friday....

3 stars. Spidey is in possession of a tablet that gives HIM headaches for a change!

I'm with Katryn... Quicksilver actually came out pretty well in this issue, which finally showcased his speed as being an unrelenting, offensive force. Spidey handled himself pretty well, but for most of the fight he was outclassed.

I do like how Pietro goes from 0 to 60 (0 to 100 for our metric friends) at the slightest thing, no pun intended. The news vendor tosses out the newspaper and Quckie's all "am I attacked?!?" Or when Spidey saves him he says "you might have slain me... but did not!" Sheesh... lighten up, dad!

Great issue mainly because of the other strands of Peter's life - as has already been said.
I know Quicksilver's involvement felt a tad brief but was quite nice to get an update on him and Wanda!

  Why 4 stars?

Well, it's really a run-of-the-mill three star story. The Kingpin is on the lam, Randy has just heard his father's wishes for him, JJJ isn't dead and Captain Stacy has the tablet.

But that look and explosion when JJJ found out about the way Robbie is running the Bugle gives it an extra star.

Me too, because in these early days, these Issues are the ones that keep the Marvel Universe connected aside from villains that appear in other books
